Effects of Climate Change

Melting Sea Ice

Just like ice melts on a hot summer day, sea ice melts due to the heat-trapping effects of the excess greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to human activity, raising sea levels. Sea ice's reflective surface reflects some of the heat back out into space, but it's melting and the darker liquid water absorbs heat, and this continues in an endless loop.

Coral Bleaching

The ocean waters absorb heat trapped by greenhouse gases and that is causing coral bleaching. The corals are under more stress so they expel the algae that live in their structure and the coral turns white. Let's keep our corals healthy and our marine life vibrant by following a greener lifestyle.

Extreme Weather Events

Increased temperatures by global warming leads to more water evaporation and therfore causes droughts. This also makes vegetation drier and more susceptible to wildfires. Rising sea levels and warmer air currents caused by climate change make bigger and more intense hurricanes, devastating coastal cities.
